Movie Review: My Bebe Love #KiligPaMore

You can’t fight the feeling called love, right? Well, you know you can’t. But some people need a lot more convincing to fall in love. But some..it’s just mainly love at first sight.

If you want to get a dose of love feels and over-the-top thrills that make you want to scream in delight, then the movie I’m currently reviewing is for you (if you’re into Filipino indie films). Making a record-smashing P150M in the Philippine box office charts on its opening day, is My Bebe Love #KiligPaMore.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: among all the films I can review, why this one? Well, this is sorta interesting, in my part.
I’m not a fan of Filipino films entirely. I’m not. But since this year’s hype about the Kapuso love-team Aldub is very contagious, and first time I saw it was like, “i’ll, give it a try!” so if you want to know more of what I want to say about this film, grab a cool drink and ease up your butt on a couch, ‘cuz I’m coming at you for the next hour you’re reading up on.

My Bebe Love is about a rivalry that seemed never-ending. When the manager of Party People Corazon Talatala (well, that’s the name) and Carousel Inc CEO Vito Carillo have a strange hatred for each other, it seemed like it was entirely going haywire. Until Cora’s nephew, the nerdy Dondi met Vito’s daughter, the rebellious Anna, it was merely “love-at-first-sight”. In secret, they started going out together…until Cora and Vito find out about the situation with a little help from their friends! Now, they come together to find ways to split the tandem, but end up getting themselves in a situation themselves: they’re in love (well, if that’s your point of view, hehe) with each other! More than that, Dondi & Anna also find out about this and try to solution out the situation. Will they succeed in doing so, or will they try to make a stickier situation?

Now, what makes My Bebe Love strangely good is the fact that it gives you smiles. I know, love is a cheesy-sorta-thing, but it’s more than just that. Try watching the film; it gives an even deeper meaning. Plus, the comedy within its story line: were just executed well. It’s sure to give you smiles, but yeah, it doesn’t give you tears at all, but it’s a comedy film, what’d you expect? The acting were just swell, the people and the director all did their fine part, and the movie seemed to flow at an even pace, making the story a tad bit understandable. Lastly, the cast that garnered the every tidbit of the film were that of the local, but known names in the Philippine film industry: Ai-Ai Delas Alas, Vic Sotto, and the duo that sparked an entire country of Filipinos with their mad love (yes, I’m calling the shots!), Alden Richards & Maine Mendoza, or you can just call it Aldub (or MaiDen, your choice), as what they’re called in the nation. Some known names also took part in the film, but only played minor roles such as Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola (post-credit scene, post-credit scene!) & Ryzza Mae Dizon. Altogether, it was wonderful film, thrilling the entire audience with scenes that make your heart wanna go “boom”.

There is as well, a bad side of the film. As I said, My Bebe Love can be wonderful, but some parts (or tidbits) aren’t that good. There’s the all-too-obvious scenes of Aldub’s sponsors (mainly, McDonald’s, Bear Brand Adult Plus, Tide, to name a few), which kinda gave it away. There is also the (uuuhhhh) obvious puns (or taglines) that commercialize the sponsors (you should’ve noticed it too), which is just plain, “yaaarrggghhh”. If they’re planning to make a second film, please lessen the obvious sponsorship…it kinda gives the film a corny taste to the whole pie.

In the end, people can always choose whether or not to watch this film. There are a lot of notable films this MMFF season, and My Bebe Love is just one. And if you’re ratings-wise, go ahead. Watch the movie. If you watch this film in particular, just take note that you may get a different expression or point of view towards the motion picture. Always remember, #TheChoiceIsYours.

ButterMeter: 8.6/10   It isn’t that corny. But it can be at times. Just watch it.

I’m SkyTheGoldMan, everybody. Remember to leave a comment or like or share (it would be an honor!) on my post, and have a beautiful evening’s rest (for tomorrow is SCHOOL DAY! XD) 🙂
